Maya Kuzminichna Kopitseva ((ロシア語:Ма́йя Кузьми́нична Копы́тцева); May 18, 1924, Gagry, Abkhazia, USSR – June 6, 2005, Saint Petersburg, Russia) - Soviet Russian painter, Honored Artist of the RSFSR, lived and worked in Leningrad - Saint Petersburg, a member of the Saint Petersburg Union of Artists (before 1992 the Leningrad branch of Union of Artists of Russian Federation),〔''Directory of Members of the Union of Artists of USSR. The Leningrad School.''- Saint Petersburg: NP-Print Edition, 2007. – pp. 9, 15, 20, 21, 24, 362, 388-397, 399-401, 404-407.〕 most famous for her still life painting. == Biography == Maya Kuzminichna Kopitseva was born May 18, 1924 in Gagry, Abkhazia, USSR. In 1951 Maya Kopitseva graduated from Ilya Repin Institute in Boris Ioganson workshop. Pupil of Boris Fogel, Leonid Ovsiannikov, Alexander Zaytsev. Since 1951 Maya Kopitseva has participated in Art Exhibitions. She painted still lifes, portraits, genre scenes, sketches done from the life. Maya Kopitseva was a member of Saint Petersburg Union of Artists since 1951. In 2001 Maya Kopitseva was awarded an honorary title of Honored Artist of the Russian Federation. She was a wife of well-known Russian painter and art educator Anatoli Levitin, the People's Artist of the USSR. Maya Kuzminichna Kopitseva died in Saint Petersburg in 2005. Paintings by Maya Kopitseva reside in State Russian Museum, in the Art museums and private collections in the Russia, Italy, in the U.S., Japan, China, France,〔''L' École de Leningrad.
